The End of the Year

Well the last few months has been very eventful for Candy and I and we are hoping that 2009 will be much better for us in health, home, and work.

As I'm sitting here writing this entry and thinking about what has gone on before in the last few months, I'm surprised that we have lasted and overcome all the shit that has been thrown at us, what with my bad health, being made homeless, and all the money worries that we had. I'm just glad that we are strong as a married couple and that we have each other forever, I don't know what we would do without the other and honestly I hope we will never find out.

Well lets get some of the stuff off my chest then and let you all know what has been going on with the Louis family.

Back in September we were made homeless and got kicked out of our home by the bailiffs it had to do with Candy's late father, the house itself is part of the will that has not been read yet and we are in the middle of sorting out the probate which has taken more time due to certain things and red tape.
It really has been a pain in the ass trying to get this done but it needs doing.
Anyway as I said we got made homeless, and so for two days we had no home.
luckly our neighbours at No. 2 allowed us to sleep on their sofa and we started to devise a cunning plan of action.

We traveled into york to seek advise from various departments of housing and benefits, but they were of no use and pretty sucky.
but we did find help in the Salvation Army and they gave us the best advice and it was legal as well!, the advisior that we spoke to was also a comicbook nut and we got chatting about that too as well. not bad for the god squad!

So with positive feeling, we went back home and we gained entry through a wide open backdoor, once inside Candy changed all the locks and secured the place from intruders and we became squatters of our own home.
we placed a legal notice on the front door and got in touch with the official squatters union in London to get some more advice and they helped as well.

Everything is still normal, we still pay the bills, and we are still going to sort out the house and get our stuff packed away and move to somewhere else.
the only downside of all of this is that someone has to stay in the house all the time, just in case someone comes calling. and with me being nearly housebound anyway due to my bad back and legs, it was down to me to stay indoors.
but I have not left the house in 15 weeks, and it really is getting me down, I do get fresh air in my lungs whenever I say goodbye to Candy at the front door as she goes into town to do some shopping, but it is not the same and it pisses me off, as I can't walk that far anymore, not until I get my back fixed.
even my walking stick does not help that much.

anyway on to other things now....

back in Aug, we treated ourselves to several goodies inc new mobile phones, some DVDs, a Tardis shaped phone, a new digital camera for Candy, an XBOX, several XBOX games, a Ouiji board (which I have not used just yet) and a Laptop that we have named DAVE.
Dave the PC has been a wonder for us, at last we have internet access again and it is wonderful.

One of many things I have taken advantage of having the internet again is to use Facebook alot more,
I have gained so many new friends and gotten in touch with so many of my old work buddies and school friends, It has been really good as I miss my friends back in Milton Keynes and I don't have any mates here in Easingwold.
one of the best things about gaining new friends on Facebook has been making friends with people in the comicbook industry and I have been over the moon by some of the friends I have, including Stan Lee, Richard Starkings, Dez Skinn, Eric Orchard, Brian Reed, Mitch Breitweiser, Mike Mignola, and the best of them all is Todd Dezago who I am a big fan of due to his work on the comicbook Perhapanauts. it really has made me happy to call these fine gentlemen friends.

Talking about comicbooks, I have finally given up all hope on Travelling Man York of ever being a decent comicbook shop.
The manager there knows nothing about comics, merchandising, or what the customer needs are, the staff are rude and there is no decent customer service.
(but saying that, I have not found any decent customer service in York).
So what I have done now is gone over to another shop called Destination Venus which is located in Harrogate, It's not that far away but I order online as it is cheaper. and the service is really good and I have been very impressed by them so far.
Candy and I are still planning on setting up our comicbook shop business but that will have to wait until we have moved home and the business industry is alot better then it is now.
I have been planning on doing this for years now but never found anyone to share my dream with until I met my Candy.
I really can't wait to make it happen as we both have so many wonderful ideas.
plus with my business skills, retail manager experience, and already having worked for Forbidden Planet as a manager at the tender age of 18 roughly sixteen years ago, I think I have what it takes.
plus we would like to combine it with Candy's art business and card crafting, and I still want to continue with my flower arranging and get back into working as a florist again. so many skills and so much to do.
plus as a sideline, I still would like to investigate the paranormal as a ghost hunter as I once did a few years ago with Ghosthunters UK.

As for the paranormal side of things in my life, we encounted a strange man in York a few months ago who claimed to be a psychic medium and he wanted our help to escort him to the bus stop as he was not feeling to well due to his meds, as someone who knows alot about that, we helped him as our good deed of the day, heck we need all the good karma we could get at that point.
anyway he went on to tell us that he speaks to the spirits that have passed over and that he has seeked us out due to having messages for us both.
I admit I did not believe him at first until he started passing over messages to Candy and coming out with stuff that nobody else knows about her except me of course. well that surprised us and then he told me some stuff about my late parents which made me concerned and laugh at a few comments that my late mother passed to him.
It was interesting to hear stuff that you know deep down in your core of being as being true and well it made us both think for the future.

It has been an interesting year and I hope that the next will not be boring, and that there will be many more adventures for Candy and I to enjoy!

Happy New Year Everybody, and may whatever gods you hold dear to your heart will bless you every day of 2009.

Mice Mice Everywhere!

Just another small post to keep the cobwebs out of my head.

Recently we have started a new family, a family of mice that is!
Candy has found and rescued a group of field mice that has made their home in our kitchen/dining room.

So far we have three mice in a very secure plastic goldfish bowl and we have three or four more that are roaming free in our house. Candy has taken loads of photos of them and they are really cute. she feeds them anything we have in our cupboards, but they like eating popcorn, apples, jam, brioche, and bird seeds.

They also enjoy trying to escape from their home, but they have had no luck so far.
I have noticed that they like watching TV, as they were watching Mary Poppins with me the other day.

Merry Christmas

Well Christmas has been good for us in the Louis household.
Candy and I got up after 12 pm to munch on sweeties and brioche, and to drink it all down with Pepsi Max...Yummy Goodness.

We did not do cards or prezzies for each other this year as we don't really need to as we have each other and we have lots of DVDs to watch that we have bought.
we are not like any other couple out there and that is a good thing.

As for other xmas cards, we received quite a few from people we did not expect, and received none from the people we were expecting from.
Yesterday I got a letter from my cousin informing me that my Aunt Lucy had passed away a few days before, so I was really sad about that as I had only just got back in touch with her a few months ago.
received a lovely card from my friend Laurie in Canada, and cards from my mate Andy in MK, and Vicky from Cornwall.
we did get a card from some old friends of my late parents that I had not heard from in years.

Candy and I are going to get some photos taken and send some out to my Aunt Sheila as she wants to know what I look like now as she has not seen me since I was 12 years old.

Candy drew an amazing picture of "Big" and "Choopie", two characters from my favourite comicbook The Perhapanauts that is written by my friend Todd Dezago.
I emailed the picture to Todd as an xmas card, and he really loved it, so much so that he posted it on to his blog - www.perhapanauts.com/blog
That made our christmas, and Candy was over the moon, she could not stop smiling and she was beaming so brightly that I needed sunglasses. Hahaha

Christmas TV was not all that good, the only decent stuff on the box was the following -
Emmerdale and Corrie, two of my favourite soaps were quite good,
Doctor Who: The Next Doctor was really shite and I'm glad that DT & RTD are both leaving the show next year.
The only other thing we watched was the Hellboy 2 DVD which was freaking fantastic, one of the best movies I've seen this year.

I did promise to Candy that next Christmas will be much better, but she does not mind as she said as long as she has me, she does not care where we are.
sweetheart that she is. I love you baby.

anyway, enough now, go and enjoy what's left of the day.

Merry Christmas.

Happy Anniversary Darling

I love you my sweet Candy,
You have made me the happiest husband ever and you are the best wife anybody could ever wish for and you know what honey,
I did wish for you and it came true.
You and I are forever, hand in hand and legs wraped around each other that we have to hop all around.
You make me sing, smile and dance with love and joy.

Brief Update

Hey, this is just an update for those wondering why Jay hasn't kept up with current events, from me, Candy, number one wife...
Jason is still not so good at the mo', having problems with water retension, due to the tablets he's on, so it's a bit difficult for him to walk too far right now. But we've been on it, checking that it is just the pills, so all blood tests came back perfect, and his bp is perfect too, but that doesn't make him feel any happier. He misses the web and chatting to all friends out there, so he's a little low. I try my hardest to cheer him up with my really corny jokes but mostly he shakes his head in mock despair!
Other things have gotten him down of late...
The sad and untimely deaths in the comic book and scifi world of late. Artist Michael Turner, of Aspen Comics,( a personal favourite of my own, hopefully a joint tribute will be up soon as i scan by homage to him and Jay writes his thoughts.) and the great Don.S.Davis, Stargate's Gen Hammond. Both left this earth too young and too quick. Both will eternally be remembered for their charm and respective passions.
On other notes, Big Brother is still causing much amusement in the house, Jason is glad that Mario went, (although Bex is irritating), he is a vile little man who makes others feel small when he feels threatened...pitiful waste of air.
Anyway, Jay is still writing, I am still drawing, and can go back to Jay's character illustrations after my Soulfire/Turner tribute. New things are in the pipeline as always, but I can't say yet...that's up to the writer to spill info.
So I hope that you folks can send Jason your best wishes as he is feeling a little low right now,, but things will get back to 'normal' soon. Thanks for your patience.

Candy

Britain's Got Talent

Well it has been an interesting show with some real dud acts and some good ones too,
but three of my favourite's are in the final tonight -
Signature, George Sampson, and Nemesis.

I can't decide who to vote for.
Signature is very good, George is amazing and Nemesis is good and is also from my home town of Milton Keynes.
well we will have to wait and see who wins!

Return of the Poster

I’m sorry that this has been a long time since I last posted a journal entry, but our lives have been very hectic of late and I have had no time to go to the library to use the net.
Candy and I have been really busy trying to sort out the sale of this house and also dealing with my poor health, which has recently gotten worse.
But enough of that just yet, let’s get on with this blog entry –

There has been a great number of television shows on recently and my favourite shows have been – NCIS, Dexter, Dirty Sexy Money, Heroes, Kyle XY, Skins, Shameless, Torchwood, and Big Bang Theory.
I have been really disappointed with Doctor Who this season as the choice of Catherine Tate as the doc’s companion was a big mistake, she is just a pain in the back side and the storylines have been a bit rubbish too.
As a once avid fanboy of Doctor Who, I am glad it’s taking a break next year from our screens.
The only other show on the box that I dislike is Pushing Daisies. It is just too weird and too twee for it’s own good.

As for the bigger screen Candy treated us both to watch IRONMAN for my birthday and Oh My Gawd it was awesome.
One of the best superhero movies out there, and if you have not watched it yet, stay in your seats until after the credits and there is a very nice cameo from Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

I’ve also surprised myself recently and gotten into watching Bollywood movies on Channel 4, my favourite has been Dhoom 2 which is an action/comedy movie starring Hrithik Roshen, I have become a big fan of this actor and I have watched a season of his movies.
If you are ever on You Tube, check out the trailer of Dhoom 2.
Being half Malaysian, my attitudes to my late father’s culture has changed and I would like to explore more of my heritage, I have lots of family members in India and Malaysia that I have not even met yet, including half siblings who don’t even know that I exist.

I celebrated my 33rd birthday on the 3rd of May, and I had a very good time.
Originally we were going to come down to Milton Keynes for Collectormania but we could not get our finances sorted in time so we just went into York for the day.
Candy treated us both to a lovely buffet meal at Jasmine’s, which is a very nice Chinese restraunt, she bought be a silver chain bracelet, Lord of the Rings Extended DVD Boxset for £10, Neverwinter Nights and two expansion games for £10, the original Battlestar Galactica series on video for £3.50, Super Skrull and Thing Toy Figures for £2.00.
We really love the charity shops in York!
Also it was Free Comic Book Day at Travelling Man, and we picked up lots of freebies, despite the two people working there trying to stop people taking more than one comic each.
I can’t wait until we find a better comic book shop or when we start our own shop in Shrewsbury.
Plus I got a really lovely birthday message from Sarah and Martin, which cheered me up as I do miss my friends back in MK.

Talking about friends, I got back in touch with Heena who I had not spoken to in nearly two years now, I really was worried about her and I missed her lots.
But after finding one friend, I think I have lost contact with others.
Tried getting in contact with Vicki but I think she has moved away and forgotten to tell me where too.
She does have a problem in thinking that she meets up with me and tells me stuff but she never does, I’ve not seen that crazy girl since my mum’s funerial back in ’02.
I’m sure she has met up with my doppelganger instead, which I seem to have one in York too as well as Milton Keynes.
I’m also glad to have gotten back in contact with Debbie, as she has been another one I have worried about.

There has been an echelon of stars that have recently passed away these last few months and the world is now a poorer place for it.
Rest in Peace for the following people –

Gary Gyrax – The creator and brilliant mind behind Dungeons and Dragons and the inspiration for role players everywhere.

Dave Stevens – The creator of the Rocketeer graphic novel and character of the same name.

Steve Gerber – The creator of Howard the Duck and various other Marvel and DC 1970’s/80’s comic Books of fantastic value, he passed away a week before the release of Howard on DVD.

Arthur C. Clarke – The best science fiction writer and leading voice of our future.

And lets not forget all the thousands that have recently been killed in the Chinese earthquakes.

Now on to something spooky!
A few weeks ago we encountered our first poltergeist in this house up close, we do get some ghostly activity in this house, due to the location of the property and the age of the place (built in the 50’s), and we have had things move around the house and being in a different place where we left it, the TV turning on and off on its own accord and we have had shadows move around when there has been no one there.
But the icing of the cake was when we were in bed, chatting about stuff around the early hours of the morning, when our double sized bed rose up and started slamming up and down for nearly a minute.
It was such an exciting rush, being scared and being rather excited that we had made contact with the other side.
And trust me it was not an earthquake as nothing else in our room or house moved out of place, plus having the both of us in bed and we are not what you call a skinny couple would take a lot of normal people to lift the bed up and down.
It really was cool.

And now on to my health, like I said it has been really poor recently and I have nearly been housebound with the pain and the lack of eyesight as well.
My medication has changed several times and now I am taking nearly 29 tablets a day which include several strong painkillers which knocks me out for most of the day, tablets for my blood pressure, tablets for my diabetes which I have also increased my insulin dosage, vitamin tablets, and tablets for reducing the swelling of my legs and stomach.
Plus I have had trouble seeing very well ever since I had my eyes tested and I had to have my eyes dilated several times in one day, now some days all I can see is a small blur in the centre of my eyesight with bright flashing lights around the edges, whilst other days I am all right and can see quite well.
I’ve now even taken up to wearing my sunglasses nearly every day, even indoors.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be getting my back seen by my osteopath, which I had to go private.
Tearing a muscle in the lower part of my back and then rehealing in the wrong position has taken its toll on me and it hurts like bloody hell.
I tell you what, I can’t wait to get rid of the walking stick.

For all you Star Wars fans out there, Candy had an absolute amazing find yesterday in a charity shop, she bought for 15p an original 1983 Return of the Jedi jigsaw puzzle in mint condition.
She says she will check the price out on ebay.

Anyway that is it for the moment, will post more later, promise.

A "heads up" for you and any of your friends who may be regular customers at Tesco Over the last month I became the victim of a clever scam whilst out shopping. Simply going out to get some bits and bobs has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you! Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good looking 18 or 19 year old girls come over to your car as you are loading your stuff into the boot. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windowlene, with their cleavage almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say "No" and instead ask you for a lift to another shopping centre. You agree and they get in the back seat. On the way, they start having sex with each other. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and performs oral sex on you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen on December 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, three times just yesterday, and very likely again this upcoming weekend as soon as I can buy some more wallets. Please pass this message on to all the men you know to warn them about this scam.

I Can't Think of a Title Post

So Christmas has come and gone, and we had a very quite time, just the two of us in the Louis household.
It was rather a good Christmas and much better than the year before as I was ill at the time.
On Boxing Day we went out for a walk into town, and we were surrounded by loads of people gathering for the Boxing Day hunt.
Just past the gathering of people, there were the horses and the riders all dressed up and ready to hunt down some poor defenceless animals.
I do have photos, which I will post later.
I know they say animal hunting is banned, but I don’t trust these posh knobs that say they don’t do it anymore as they gather their hunting dogs to kill.

Well I am in TV Heaven at the moment, what with NCIS, Torchwood, Primeval, Shameless, Moving Wallpaper/Echo Beach, and Never Mind the Buzzcocks on the box, It’s all goodness.

Sad to hear about the death of Heath Ledger the other day, he was destined to be one of the Hollywood Greats.
I hear that his upcoming performance of the Joker in the Dark Knight movie will be the best.
I will be looking forward to seeing that film but I will have a glint of sadness as I did when I watched the Crow.
Now who will play the part of the Joker in the third Batman flick?
We will have to wait until 2010/11 for that answer.

The title of the new James Bond movie has now been revealed to be –
The Quantum of Solace.
It’s still going to be bollocks with Daniel Craig in the lead role.

Well we will be moving in the next several weeks, we are packing up at the moment but it is taking ages, as I can’t physically do a lot due to my back injury.
So it does mean I won’t be online as much as I was for the next month or two as I will be too busy.
So my journal entries will be random but if anyone is interested in me, you can still email me at my address or leave a message on my face book page.
Please do, as I love getting mail!

See ya soon folks…
