I’m sorry that this has been a long time since I last posted a journal entry, but our lives have been very hectic of late and I have had no time to go to the library to use the net.
Candy and I have been really busy trying to sort out the sale of this house and also dealing with my poor health, which has recently gotten worse.
But enough of that just yet, let’s get on with this blog entry –
There has been a great number of television shows on recently and my favourite shows have been – NCIS, Dexter, Dirty Sexy Money, Heroes, Kyle XY, Skins, Shameless, Torchwood, and Big Bang Theory.
I have been really disappointed with Doctor Who this season as the choice of Catherine Tate as the doc’s companion was a big mistake, she is just a pain in the back side and the storylines have been a bit rubbish too.
As a once avid fanboy of Doctor Who, I am glad it’s taking a break next year from our screens.
The only other show on the box that I dislike is Pushing Daisies. It is just too weird and too twee for it’s own good.
As for the bigger screen Candy treated us both to watch IRONMAN for my birthday and Oh My Gawd it was awesome.
One of the best superhero movies out there, and if you have not watched it yet, stay in your seats until after the credits and there is a very nice cameo from Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
I’ve also surprised myself recently and gotten into watching Bollywood movies on Channel 4, my favourite has been Dhoom 2 which is an action/comedy movie starring Hrithik Roshen, I have become a big fan of this actor and I have watched a season of his movies.
If you are ever on You Tube, check out the trailer of Dhoom 2.
Being half Malaysian, my attitudes to my late father’s culture has changed and I would like to explore more of my heritage, I have lots of family members in India and Malaysia that I have not even met yet, including half siblings who don’t even know that I exist.
I celebrated my 33rd birthday on the 3rd of May, and I had a very good time.
Originally we were going to come down to Milton Keynes for Collectormania but we could not get our finances sorted in time so we just went into York for the day.
Candy treated us both to a lovely buffet meal at Jasmine’s, which is a very nice Chinese restraunt, she bought be a silver chain bracelet, Lord of the Rings Extended DVD Boxset for £10, Neverwinter Nights and two expansion games for £10, the original Battlestar Galactica series on video for £3.50, Super Skrull and Thing Toy Figures for £2.00.
We really love the charity shops in York!
Also it was Free Comic Book Day at Travelling Man, and we picked up lots of freebies, despite the two people working there trying to stop people taking more than one comic each.
I can’t wait until we find a better comic book shop or when we start our own shop in Shrewsbury.
Plus I got a really lovely birthday message from Sarah and Martin, which cheered me up as I do miss my friends back in MK.
Talking about friends, I got back in touch with Heena who I had not spoken to in nearly two years now, I really was worried about her and I missed her lots.
But after finding one friend, I think I have lost contact with others.
Tried getting in contact with Vicki but I think she has moved away and forgotten to tell me where too.
She does have a problem in thinking that she meets up with me and tells me stuff but she never does, I’ve not seen that crazy girl since my mum’s funerial back in ’02.
I’m sure she has met up with my doppelganger instead, which I seem to have one in York too as well as Milton Keynes.
I’m also glad to have gotten back in contact with Debbie, as she has been another one I have worried about.
There has been an echelon of stars that have recently passed away these last few months and the world is now a poorer place for it.
Rest in Peace for the following people –
Gary Gyrax – The creator and brilliant mind behind Dungeons and Dragons and the inspiration for role players everywhere.
Dave Stevens – The creator of the Rocketeer graphic novel and character of the same name.
Steve Gerber – The creator of Howard the Duck and various other Marvel and DC 1970’s/80’s comic Books of fantastic value, he passed away a week before the release of Howard on DVD.
Arthur C. Clarke – The best science fiction writer and leading voice of our future.
And lets not forget all the thousands that have recently been killed in the Chinese earthquakes.
Now on to something spooky!
A few weeks ago we encountered our first poltergeist in this house up close, we do get some ghostly activity in this house, due to the location of the property and the age of the place (built in the 50’s), and we have had things move around the house and being in a different place where we left it, the TV turning on and off on its own accord and we have had shadows move around when there has been no one there.
But the icing of the cake was when we were in bed, chatting about stuff around the early hours of the morning, when our double sized bed rose up and started slamming up and down for nearly a minute.
It was such an exciting rush, being scared and being rather excited that we had made contact with the other side.
And trust me it was not an earthquake as nothing else in our room or house moved out of place, plus having the both of us in bed and we are not what you call a skinny couple would take a lot of normal people to lift the bed up and down.
It really was cool.
And now on to my health, like I said it has been really poor recently and I have nearly been housebound with the pain and the lack of eyesight as well.
My medication has changed several times and now I am taking nearly 29 tablets a day which include several strong painkillers which knocks me out for most of the day, tablets for my blood pressure, tablets for my diabetes which I have also increased my insulin dosage, vitamin tablets, and tablets for reducing the swelling of my legs and stomach.
Plus I have had trouble seeing very well ever since I had my eyes tested and I had to have my eyes dilated several times in one day, now some days all I can see is a small blur in the centre of my eyesight with bright flashing lights around the edges, whilst other days I am all right and can see quite well.
I’ve now even taken up to wearing my sunglasses nearly every day, even indoors.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be getting my back seen by my osteopath, which I had to go private.
Tearing a muscle in the lower part of my back and then rehealing in the wrong position has taken its toll on me and it hurts like bloody hell.
I tell you what, I can’t wait to get rid of the walking stick.
For all you Star Wars fans out there, Candy had an absolute amazing find yesterday in a charity shop, she bought for 15p an original 1983 Return of the Jedi jigsaw puzzle in mint condition.
She says she will check the price out on ebay.
Anyway that is it for the moment, will post more later, promise.
